Machu Picchu is a popular tourist destination that is located in Peru. It is one of those places that you should make an effort to visit, if you are an adventurous person. Once you have finalized the details and booking for your Machu Picchu tour package, the next step is to start packing up for your trip. For your trip to go well, you have to bring the right things for this journey. Here are some necessary items you should pack up.

You need to get yourself comfortable shoes. This is because you will be doing a lot of walking around. You can trek up to the ruins. This can take a few days, or even a couple of hours, depending on where you start trekking. Then once you get to the site, you will have to hike up the ruins for hours. There are a lot of rocks and loose stones in the area, so comfort is key when choosing shoes to wear. Since it can rain, get shoes that are water resistant too.

Put on clothes that are suitable for the weather. During hot weather, carry clothes that are light, a sunhat and sunglasses. During wet seasons, have on a jacket and raincoat. It is important that you wear comfortable clothes. You can never go wrong with putting on jeans, when visiting the site. Keep in mind that you are likely to take lots of photos, so put on clothes that will look nice in the photos.

It can get chilly, even during warm months. Therefore, carry something warm to put on. It will most likely be cold, early in the morning, just before the sun is about to rise. Layer dressing would be ideal for this situation. Have a backpack, where you can put your clothes as you remove them, as the day get hotter. The backpack should be small or medium in size, as large backpacks are not allowed into the site.

You will find some books helpful during this trip. This includes a Latin America Spanish phrasebook. It can help you learn some Spanish phrases, which you can use when talking to the locals. A guidebook can also give you a map of the area. It will also list some activities that you can do, as part of your trek.

Don't forget to pack your medicines. In case you forget, you can buy some from local pharmacies, but you might need a prescription in some cases. In addition, bring altitude sickness tabs and motion sickness tabs. An insect repellent will help to keep away insects from you.

You need to stay hydrated during the trip. So, carry a water bottle. If you can get one which can keep the water cool, so much the better as it will be so refreshing to get a cold drink especially on hot sunny days. Pack a camera or a phone that has a camera, which you will use to take pictures.

Bring your personal effects. This includes things such as deodorant, cream, toothbrush and a comb. You can also carry wet wipes and lip balm. You can either come with them or buy them from the town that is close to the site.
