Buenos Aires Vacation Packages That Rock

By Richard Foster

When it comes to travel whether foreign or domestic, there are a lot of places to visit. When it comes to South America, there are a number of different Buenos Aires vacation packages. The city, first established in 1536 by Pedro de Mendoza with additional portions added in 1580 by Juan de Garay, has become a popular destination for honeymooners and tourists.

In 2010, the census reflected that 2,891,082 citizens lived in the city with 15,594,420 living in the greater metropolitan area. Buenos Aires is located on the Southeastern coast and continues to be the biggest city in all of Argentina. While this is the case, navigating in the city is fairly easy due the rebuild and reconstruction which took place a few years ago.

The city is not part of the larger province or capital rather an autonomous city ran by local city government and officials. For, in 1880, the city was removed from the province after several attempts to gain acceptance and approval. As such, following a long period of infighting, the city limits were modified to incorporate Belgrano and Flores, two areas which have become vibrant neighborhoods.

The city is one of a number of top tourist destinations in Argentina. For, the area is well known for preserving original European and gothic architecture, some of which can be rather eclectic. In addition, the city has a vibrant and rich cultural life as shown by recent participation in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics, the 2018 G20 Summit, two venues which hosted the 1978 FIFA World Cup and the Pan American Games in 1951.

The city is extremely diverse and multi-cultural due to the numerous ethnic and religious groups which call the area home. Several different languages are spoken in the city in addition to Native Spanish. In large part, thanks to the millions of immigrants who have come from different areas of the world over the last 151 years.

When it comes to lifestyle, politics and religion, Buenos Aires has always been accepting of all citizens. Whereas, provinces to the northwest tend to be more conservative, nationalistic and dogmatic. In fact, many are based in Catholicism and often take a much different approach to political and social issues. For, liberals and conservatives often have vastly different approaches when it comes to looking at and resolving issues in these areas.

The tension between different factions in the country actually go back as far as the federalists-centralist conflicts in the 19th century. After which, Buenos Aires attempted to send troops to different provinces in hopes of gaining approval. While this is the case, most missions turned violent, resulting in clashes which only worked to fuel ongoing tensions between the capital and provinces.

While there are some countries who now frown on immigration, if not for immigrants from Spain and Italy, Buenos Aires would not be the city it is today. For, it is these individuals who brought ideas such as building a vibrant art and theater scene. In addition, over the years, the city has become active in television, radio, cinema and theater. Whether a lover of music festivals, outdoor activities or just sight seeing in nature, South America has a lot to offer whether visiting this area or others.
