China is a marvellous country to travel in and it's great to get off the beaten track so it was time to head to the north of the Guangdong Province on a special trip. There's a location known as Penis Rock - it's basically a rock in the shape of a man's willy that you can hike up past and admire! Yes it really looks like a big dick! []
What is dick rock/the yang yuan rock?
It's a rock shaped like a penis. A willy, a dick, a cock, a nob, a member, a wee man. Whatever name you want to call your manhood. Apparently it's natural. But it seems too natural to be true really. Even the curvature at the tip of this willy is similar to a real one.
It has easy access if you happen to be Chinese. If you're not get ready for a mega adventure trying to find this special rock!
Head firstly to the city called Shaoguan which is in the northern part of China's Guangdong Province. High speed train connects Shaoguan with the rest of China - an option is coming in through Shenzhen. You'll then need a bus from the city of Shaoguan out to the Danxia mountains.
You can stay in the mountain village of Yao Tang near a river and coupled with another mountain village called Jin Jiang. From here it's only a 20 - 30 minute walk to view the rock that looks like a penis. You'll get a cheap hotel there.
On the way to the Danxia mountains you need to get an entrance ticket. They will be valid for a total of 48 hours and cost 120 RMB from the ticket office before the entrance to the National Park.
Once you get inside the National Park try and buy a map so you can get your bearings. Danxiashan mountains are huge and a map will come in handy, but it will be in Chinese!
The view from the top of the Pavilion is outstanding. On the other side you view an incredible sunset from the top of a Fortress. Finally I had to do at least one funny photo when I was there at Penis Rock. The Chinese are such a shy race when it comes to sex, nudity and willies, this photo attracted more odd looks than laughs!
What is there? A rock that is shaped like a huge willy!
Why visit? Amazing sunset, odd shaped rocks, cheap drinks, decent hiking and fantastic views.
