Installing the wings is also a precautionary measure to reduce the risk of airborne. If an automobile goes airborne, it can absorb a certain effect of the flip. It serves as a great protection for most drivers during an accident. Most team members are replacing the wings of their vehicles during a stoppage and return it back when the race resumed.

A non winged vehicle becomes popular in Australia. Wingless automobiles are referred as nos sprints. It is powered by an engine of six cylinder and can reach a speed of 180 kilometers per hour. It composed the same body structure just like a sprint car. The difference is that it has no wings.
