The Hot Air Balloon Ride Colorado

By Sally Delacruz

There are many land marks and national monuments and parks to be seen and explored when traveling in the North Western states in America. This area contains a number of locations that hold special sites and activities available for the public to enjoy. A very popular and widely available activity is a balloon ride Colorado.

You can make reservations with one of many companies found online for any day during the late spring through early fall months. During the months of May through October you will find these businesses open seven days a week. The meeting times are very early in the morning because high winds are common on a daily basis in Colorado. There is generally only a three hour period each day when the winds are calm, the sky is clear and there is no precipitation near the area.

This is something that virtually anybody can participate in. There are few restrictions applied to customers prior to booking a flight. You must be capable of climbing into the basket beneath the balloons, you must be over five years and under eighty years old, you may not be pregnant and should not suffer from chronic breathing issues or be dependent upon oxygen tanks.

You can feel safe when you are aloft because the pilots are highly skilled and have licenses the same as those required of commercial pilots. The FAA controls the safety factors of this business and inspect the equipment and balloons regularly. Safety is a major component of this business.

You will be aloft for up to an hour when you take off. There is rarely any sign of motion sickness and any fear of heights appears to be alleviated by being in a basket. You may be allowed to watch while they inflate the balloons if you arrive earlier than scheduled. You should land approximately ten miles from the spot you took off from. Wind speed can cause a variance in distance.

Many reservations include a breakfast at the end of the flight. Champagne is served to the clients either with their breakfast or at the end of each flight before breakfast. Generally the meal is intended for clients only but non-fliers can be accommodated for an extra fee. You may be provided with souvenir glasses after the toast is made.

The passenger baskets come in a variety of sizes and the larger ones can hold up to twelve passengers. There are smaller baskets that are designed for smaller groups of two to four. The larger baskets feature compartments that allow the guests a small amount of individual privacy during the flight. The baskets generally make two flights a day and the day is complete no later than noon.

One of the best aspects of ballooning is the quiet beauty and tranquility that can be found during the flight. The panoramic views that are experienced encompass the natural scenery from a point of view that some say cannot be described. You will see wildlife as well as hills and valleys and you will be able to record everything by camera or video from an altitude of five hundred to three thousand feet above the landscape. It may turn out to be an experience you will not soon forget.
