Carlsbad Hotels - Select From Luxury, Moderately Priced, Or Budget Hotels

By Heather Hunnefeld

Carlsbad Hotels offer just a little bit of anything from the elegant spas and resorts to the budget hotel. There are many to pick from that have the price range you are looking for. You will find many hotels with brand names and reputations for being very good, comfortable hotels.

The area is home to several different resort hotels. These hotels may cost a bit more but you get much more back in luxury and great things to do. The La Costa Resort and Spa is one of those luxury hotels located away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the foothills. Play golf on one of the golf courses that was featured in several PGA championships, play tennis on one of the 17 courses, or you can opt for spending time at the 5 outdoor pools and working out at the gym. The hotel is built with Spanish style tile roof tops and stucco walls. The rooms have a decidedly Spanish flair and the staff members are very helpful and gracious. If you are bringing children with you they can stay free in the same room up to age 18.

Although this is a spa and resort hotel La Costa is very family friendly. One of the pools is specifically for families with a sandy beach and several waterslides. They operate a program called Kidtopia for kids to 12 years of age. Here they explore, make crafts, and play games on an interactive game floor. There is something for the teen to do too at the Vibz with x-box lounge, other arcade games and pool tables. Adults can take advantage of the steam room and sauna, pools, fitness center and other amenities. You will not have to go anywhere else because there are several restaurants on the property including a Bistro, Grill, several cafes including those that are poolside, bars, and lounges. There is a parking fee per day. Rooms cost anywhere from USD $300 to $400 per night.

If that is a little rich for your blood you can try the Homestead Suites Carlsbad North. It is out near the Aquarium and Legoland is only a short distance away. There is a fitness center and outdoor pool to enjoy. Rooms consist of a sleeping room with bed and a sitting room with a couch that can be rolled out into a bed for extra sleeping area. Take advantage of the wonderful free breakfast buffet. The Internet can be accessed both in the lobby and in each room. There is even a coin operated laundry.

Each room has a small refrigerator, a microwave with cookware and dishes, and a coffee maker at its disposal. You have a choice of a King room with a king bed or sofa bed. The Two Queen Suite has 2 queen beds or a sofa bed and all rooms come with air and cable TV. The price of a room is around USD $120 to $150 each night.

A less expensive hotel near Legoland and the beach is the La Quinta Inn. It has fewer amenities as the other hotels yet still provides weary travelers with a nice place to stay. Every morning starts with a complimentary breakfast where you make your own waffles or hard boiled eggs or choose from some of the other offerings. You can swim in the outdoor pool or soak in the spa. There is also a fitness center. The rooms are air conditioned and have cable TV, coffee maker, a small microwave and refrigerator and hair dryer. You can easily walk to many great restaurants in the area. King rooms have one king bed while the King Suite has a King bed and also a sofa bed so the kids have somewhere to sleep. You will spend about USD $65 up to $80.

There are many more Carlsbad Hotels both inside the city and in the outskirts. You can choose from the pricey resorts or spas or go to something that costs less but still has many amenities you desire. There are always those budget hotels for those that need to stick to their budget. Many times you can find one that has just as nice offerings as the moderately priced hotels. You should have a great time in Carlsbad and have a great place to rest.
