Las Vegas Grand Canyon National Park Spring Break Plane Flights

By Belinda Shields

It's almost time for one of the most fun holidays of the year - Spring Break. With a little planning, you can choose a fun adventure that will pack your holiday with thrills and memories to last a lifetime. Vegas is the ideal Spring Break destination, and when you're there, you can take a side trip to the Grand Canyon and view its splendors from above on an airplane tour.

Two Unique Canyon Regions

When you fly from Vegas, you're not just limited to the nearby West Rim. You can also to choose to fly out to the South Rim, which is accessed from the town of Tusayan in Arizona. Flying to the South Rim takes around 60 minutes by airplane, which is pretty amazing considering that the drive there would take a few hours.

The South Rim is known for being less crowded than the West Rim, so if you want to enjoy the scenic beauty in relative peace and quiet, then this is the place to go. When you choose an airplane tour, the complete package can include a bus tour through the National Park. The ground tour lasts about 2.5 hours, and you'll get to see the main highlights of the South Rim. The tour comes with pickup and drop off service at your hotel and it takes about ten hours to complete. You'll also have plenty of time to explore on your own, especially at the local tourist village where you can shop for crafts, souvenirs, and snacks.

If that's not enough fun and excitement, you can upgrade the tour further to include a helicopter flight over the rim. You can ride in a helicopter and fly to the North Rim and back. There is also a longer, fifty-minute tour that goes all the way to the eastern border of the park. You'll see a lot on the longer tour because it flies over approximately 75 percent of the Park. You'll even get to see the Dragoon Corridor, which is famous for being the deepest and widest part of the Canyon.

If you want to fly a little closer to Vegas, then you will enjoy the West Rim. It only takes around 30 minutes to get out there by airplane.

Touring The West Rim

When you fly out to the West Rim, you will be able to spend 2.5 hours exploring its trails and lookout points along the top of the rim. There's plenty of hiking for people of all levels - just make sure that you dress for the weather and wear some comfortable walking shoes. The West Rim is also home to the world famous Skywalk, the glass and steel platform that extends over the edge of the Canyon. It will have you standing 4000ft over the bottom. It's also a great place to get your picture taken.

Like the South Rim, there are also helicopter tours available. The best one is a helicopter that will take you inside of the Canyon and set you down next to the Colorado River. You can even upgrade your ticket to include a boat ride for the full experience.

Buy Your Tour Early!

It will be busy at the Canyon over Spring Break, so buy your tour early so it isn't sold out. Try to get your seats booked at least two weeks ahead of your tour date. Use your credit card to buy your tour online and you can buy it as early as you want. Plus, the lowest prices are always online.

Conclusion

Now you have some great ideas on how to have an exciting fun-filled Spring Break getaway. If you want to tour the scenic South Rim, be sure to upgrade to include the long helicopter flight that goes over the North Rim and eastern edge of the park. If you want to go to the West Rim instead, then you don't want to miss the helicopter ride to the Canyon floor. No matter what tour you take and upgrades you include, your day will be filled with beautiful sights and plenty of adventure when you tour America's most famous natural landmark.
