Wineries On Wine Tours Dahlonega GA

By Harold Baker

Sonoma county in California is almost always the first thing that pops into people's minds when they think of a United States destination for wines. While this is definitely a great destination, it is far to go for east coasters and can be quite crowded. If you want something different, consider taking Wine Tours Dahlonega GA for your next vino fix rather than traveling to California or beyond.

Northern Georgia has some gorgeous foothills and mountains, and the climate in the area as a result of the terrain is perfect for growing grapes. The soil is quite fertile, and as a result, some six wineries have opened their doors for tastings and tours among other offerings. People in the area love it, and it is quickly becoming a huge destination for wine lovers all over the country.

Cavender Creek, located at 3610 Cavender Creek Road, is the newest kid on the winery block, but don't let their youth fool you. They produce 1,400 cases per year on average, each of which is carefully handcrafted for quality instead of quantity. You can find Petit Manseng, American Norton and cabernet sauvignon among other varietals.

Formerly known as the Blackstock Vineyards, the Kaya Vineyard & Winery has reopened and re-branded at 5400 Town Creek Road. It is the largest in the region, and has a meeting/party space that can hold up to 300 people for large conferences or weddings, in addition to a behemoth 2,000 square foot covered deck usable in all seasons with live music. The tasting room has massive 12 feet windows that give you breathtaking views of the local foothills.

The Montaluce Winery & Estates is located at 501 Hightower Church Road and has a distinctly Tuscan vibe. The entire place is decorated to look like a Tuscan villa, which is why many brides choose it as their wedding spot. There are free tours and wine tastings daily to sip and buy any varietal.

Located at 180 Wolf Mountain Trail, the Wolf Mountain Vineyards & Winery is not just about the vino. They also have world class food that makes foodies travel here from all over, along with the expert wine pairings you would expect. They specialize in both European and southern cuisine, so you get a real feel for two different worlds. Their vintages have won over 150 medals from competitions across the country, including for their famous Champenoise sparkling wine.

The Three Sisters Vineyards & Winery is located at 439 Vineyard Way. One of the biggest reasons it is a destination is the crash pad deck and rock wall patio, both unique experiences that are better with a glass of wine. Each vintage they make produces up to 4,000 cases, some of which are poured at the many weddings they host on the 184 acres of land. TurnerSouth once voted them the Best Winery in the South, which is quite a big deal when you consider how many vineyards are popping up across the region.

If you like a wide variety of wines to try, then you will definitely want to schedule plenty of time to visit Frogtown Cellars, located at 700 Ridge Point Drive. They have an impressive tri-level flow winery, a must considering that they pack 25 grape varieties into just 57 acres of land. These many grapes have turned into wines that have won more medals than any other locally.
